History

The Little School program began over 40 years ago as a ministry of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church. Although we have maintained the small size of the school our program has grown with additional classes now serving children age’s two to five. Our coeducational early childhood program is licensed by the state of Louisiana and is a member of the National Association of Episcopal Schools

Philosophy

Our philosophy at The Little School is that children learn through hands on experiences in a stimulating environment.

Our child-centered developmentally appropriate program encourages children to learn through exploration. The Little School’s approach to learning aims to teach the “whole child” expanding not only their perceptual abilities, communication skills and gross and fine motor skills but also helps them to become more independent and responsible. Our primary goal is to nurture your children and create a love of learning so they become more intellectually and emotionally prepared for future academic success.

Staff
Our dedicated teachers enjoy working with children and are sensitive to their needs. Their role is not only in a supervisory capacity but also to stimulate the curiosity in each child. All of our teachers participate in annual continuing education and health and safety courses as well as being CPR certified.
